Anthony Cowan, F.R.A.e.S. – Chairman & CEO
Mr. Cowan has over 40 years of Aviation Insurance experience of which 12 years were spent with major Lloyd’s Brokers which specialized in the marketing of US Airlines, Manufacturers, Airports and large Commercial Helicopter Operators in the USA utilizing U.S., London and other European insurers. Since moving to the United States, Mr. Cowan has handled Airport, Airline and large General Aviation accounts domestically and internationally. Mr. Cowan founded Caledonian Insurance Group, Inc. in Seattle in 1988.

Jeremy D. McCaslin, CIC, CAIP – President & Sales Director
Mr. McCaslin has 9 years of aviation insurance broking experience. His background includes servicing regional airlines, cargo airlines, rotor wing operators, manufacturers and Fixed Based Operators including Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities. He has extensive experience in policy and contract review, marketing and utilizes technology for claims analysis / modeling. Mr. McCaslin is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and earned his Certified Aviation Insurance Professional (CAIP) designation in April of 2009. Mr. McCaslin joined Caledonian Insurance Group in 2006.

 

Larry Maloney – Vice Chairman
Recognized as an “Aviation Insurance Guru”, Mr. Maloney also has over 40 years insurance experience of which the last 35 years have been spent specializing in Aviation coverages in Canada and the US. He has extensive experience in Commercial Helicopters, Component Manufacturers, with General Aviation clients and also specializes in Aviation Workers Compensation coverage. Mr. Maloney joined Caledonian Insurance Group in January 1990.

 

Philip W. Stonebraker – Sr. Vice President, Property & Casualty

Mr. Stonebraker has 43 years of insurance experience from which to provide Caledonian a broad base of expertise. He specializes in financial and banking, professional liabilities, and large value real estate. After college, he worked for Safeco Insurance Company, prior to purchasing his own agency in Eastern Washington in 1970 which he owned and managed for 40 years. After selling his agency in 2010 he joined Caledonian. Mr. Stonebraker’s experience, market knowledge, and strong relationships with carriers make him a valuable asset to Caledonian’s Property and Casualty department.

 

Edward Williams, CPCU – Sr. Vice President
Mr. Williams has over 28 years aviation insurance experience, including 6 years as an aviation underwriter. Prior to coming to Caledonian in November 2003, Mr. Williams spent 16 years working with two large international insurance brokers in their aviation departments. He has experience in handling large OEMs and smaller aircraft component manufacturers; Airlines (passenger and cargo); Aircraft Charter operators; Fixed Base operators, Helicopter Operators, and Corporate Aviation. With his extensive experience in policy coverage and contract review, Mr. Williams works closely with his clients to develop both insurance and risk management solutions to their complex risk exposures.

 

David Barder, CPCU, ARM, CAIP – Vice President
Mr. Barder has worked in the insurance industry for over 44 years of which the last 40 have been spent specializing in Aviation as both a Lloyd’s of London and US Broker. He is experienced in the handling of fixed and rotor wing accounts in North America, specializing in Alaska and in South American clients. Mr. Barder joined Caledonian Insurance Group in 1998.
 

John C. Self, CPCU, CAIP – Asst. Vice President – Branch Manager, Honolulu, Hawaii
Mr. Self has over 40 years experience in Commercial Insurance with specialization in aviation and maritime coverage’s. His background includes safety audits, risk management and claims investigation. He is a former Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, as well as a retired Captain in the United States Navy Reserve. Mr. Self joined Caledonian in July of 2000.

 

Phil Kennedy – Asst. Vice President

With over 14 years experience in the aviation industry, including Commercial Flight Operations, FBO management, and General Aviation, Mr. Kennedy brings a unique perspective to his approach in placing, servicing, and negotiating insurance programs on behalf of his clients. He has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle University and also holds his Certified Flight Instructor, Commercial, and Instrument pilot ratings. Mr. Kennedy is primarily involved in Corporate Aviation risks, Commercial Helicopter Operators, Aerospace Product Liability, and Aviation War Risks. He joined Caledonian in the spring of 2007.

 

Joel McCaslin, CISR – Controller / Claims Director

Mr. McCaslin manages Caledonian's accounting operations and Information Technology infrastructure.  In addition, he is responsible for supervising aviation claims handling in order to ensure timely and accurate processing. He has been key in developing a proprietary client management and certificate of insurance system. Prior to joining Caledonian, he worked in the IT department for a mid-sized consulting company where he was responsible for database development and management.  Joel joined Caledonian in the summer of 2008.

  

Megan K. Henshaw – Client Services Manager

Ms. Henshaw has over 18 years of insurance industry experience with the last 10 years specializing in aviation insurance. Her background includes placement and servicing of aviation accounts comprised of Commercial Helicopter fleets, Managed and Fractional Aircraft fleets, Scheduled Cargo haulers, MRO and OEM facilities, Pleasure and Business, and Industrial Aid, including Fortune 500 companies. In addition, she has extensive experience placing and servicing supporting lines of coverage for aviation clients, including property, auto, workers’ compensation, and professional liabilities. Mrs. Henshaw joined Caledonian Insurance Group in 2010.

 

Brooke McCaslin, CIC – Client Executive
Ms. McCaslin has been involved in the insurance industry for over 23 years. She understands the coverage options available and the markets related to property and casualty insurance. She joined Caledonian Insurance Group Inc. in April of 2011 as an Account Executive, after spending 9 years with her prior agency. She has a CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation. Her years of experience as an agent give her an edge when working with her clients to customize risk management solutions for their ever changing needs. She specializes in technology, hospitality, and light manufacturing.
 

James H.L. Cowan – Aviation Client Executive

Mr. Cowan has 10 years of experience in the aviation industry. His experience spans being involved in the engineering of Winglets for the Hawker 800 series and the revised batwing for the Lear 35 ZR LITE to spending a summer working under a US Forest Service Contract that utilized a Bell LongRanger. James achieved a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and prior to joining Caledonian was the Aerospace Quality Assurance Manager for a 1st tier supplier to Boeing. This industry experience has resulted in a considerable amount of technical background, and Aviation Product knowledge. James joined the Aviation Department of Caledonian in 2010. 


Teresa Tolonen, CIC, CAIP – Account Executive

Ms. Tolonen has over 24 years of insurance experience with the last 10 years specializing in aviation insurance. Her responsibilities include managing and servicing U.S. and South American commercial aviation clients. She joined Caledonian Insurance Group in 1999.

 

Holly Hopkinson – Account Executive

Ms. Hopkinson has spent the past seven years in the insurance industry working with both Aviation and Commercial Property and Casualty markets. She spent three and a half years with Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group before joining Marsh’s Aviation practice. Most recently she has worked in the Commercial Department of Parker, Smith and Feek as an Account Administrator. Mrs. Hopkinson specializes in Regional Airline business, in particular Alaska-based operations, and their associated Property and Casualty exposures. She joined Caledonian in 2011.

 

Diana Cespedes – Account Coordinator

Ms. Cespedes has over 9 years experience in Life, Health, Personal, and Commercial lines insurance. Her responsibilities include servicing and marketing existing accounts and implementing new client insurance programs. Ms. Cespedes is fluent in Spanish and assists with many of the Caledonian South American accounts. She joined Caledonian in 2004.

 

Elizabeth Erickson – Account Coordinator

Ms. Erickson has 9 years of experience in the insurance industry, working in both commercial and personal lines. She spent the last 3 years at a regional brokerage working with a team that specialized in contractors and banking and is also well-versed in many other business types such as restaurants, non-profits and daycares. Ms. Erickson is very knowledgeable of the insurance market and the needs of clients today. She is currently working towards her AAI (Accredited Advisor of Insurance) designation. She joined the Caledonian Insurance Group team in 2011.

 

Stacey Field – Account Coordinator
Ms. Field has worked in the aviation insurance industry for the past five years, working primarily with aviation-related property and casualty risks. Her experience includes placing and servicing supporting lines of coverage including property, auto, workers’ compensation, professional liability, pollution, as well as bonds and other sureties. Her background has also included servicing commercial aviation accounts. She joined Caledonian in February 2012. She is also actively working towards obtaining her CIC designation.


Beth Bates, CISR – Aviation Account Coordinator

Ms. Bates graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Mrs. Bates has over 3 years of insurance experience in both personal and commercial lines. Her responsibilities include managing and servicing both domestic and South American accounts. She has been with Caledonian since late 2007.

 

Marina Patoc – Account Administrator

Ms. Patoc has over 9 years of experience in Property & Casualty and Life & Disability Insurance. She joined Caledonian in 2007 and is responsible for servicing and marketing Personal & Commercial Lines accounts. Marina is actively working towards obtaining her CISR designation. 

 

Trish Maloney – Account Administrator

Ms. Maloney began her career with Caledonian in 2008 working as the receptionist. Over the past year she has worked as an Account Manager Assistant in both the Aviation and P&C Departments. Trish is now responsible for the Aviation Pleasure and Business accounts as well as overall assistance to the Aviation Department.

 
Cathy Grotjahn – Executive Assistant
Ms. Grotjahn’s responsibilities include the overall management of the Caledonian Building and assisting the Chairman / CEO in all business matters.

 

Kim Phelps – Executive Assistant

Ms. Phelps has worked in the insurance industry for the past three years, working in the surety field.  She has three years of administrative experience and in her current role is assisting the President / Sales Director.

  

Deedee Wilson – Receptionist

Ms. Wilson has 10 years of administrative experience in the commercial property leasing business and also holds a Life and Health Insurance License. Deedee joined Caledonian in 2011. 

 

Pat Bateman – IT Administrator
Mr. Bateman’s responsibilities include managing and maintaining Caledonian’s computer systems, network, and servers. He provides technical support to all of the departments at Caledonian. Pat joined Caledonian in March 2012.
